Welcome to Week 1 of the Minnesota Timberwolves FastBreak Foundation Read to Achieve Program!
As a reminder, students that read 500 minutes or more in school or at home between November 4th and December 15th will be rewarded with a Timberwolves lunch bag and a ticket offer to a Wolves game during the 2019-20 season. Each student has a chart to record their minutes in their planner. Remember, these minutes can also be used for our Buggy for Books program. Many students are are still on their 1st calendar. Thank you for encouraging your child to read. Also, if you're looking for a way to add Math to your routine, consider this e-book (also printable). Find more information on the website, it helps spark conversation about counting/number sense to notice how your child is using math to solve. We use this every morning to boost number sense & share ideas on creative problem solving. They also have a link for educational gift ideas. If you're interested, but $9.99 is a hardship, let me know. Thank you! Hello!
Please check your child's planner for math, reading, and speak up reminders. Enjoy your long weekend! Thanks to the Albany Fire Department for visiting our school today and reminding us to: Check/test fire detectors monthly. Have a fire extinguisher in the kitchen, garage, basement (or wherever there's a risk of fire.) Extinguish bonfires COMPLETELY & finally make sure everyone in the family knows where your SAFE SPOT is, in case of a fire at your home. A big thanks to a fabulous couple, Mark & Gwen Kranz from Sauk Centre for donating a dictionary to every 3rd grader! Their love for learning and words is contagious!

A note from Football Coach Kleinschmidt: The High School Football programs throughout the state of Minnesota are partnering with the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund to Tackle Cancer. The Albany Huskies are going to have a special activity to help in this effort. On Friday, September 13th, during halftime of the Albany vs. Zimmerman Varsity Football Game at home on Michael Field, anyone who wants to come down onto the field and donate $1, can tackle a big, blue tackling dummy or a Tackle Wheel that will be held by our 9th grade Football players! All ages are welcome to come down and participate. There is no limit to the number of tackles anyone can make...$5 for 5 tackles, $10 for 10 tackles, etc... Come on down and have some fun! All of the proceeds will go to the Randy Shaver Cancer Research Fund. Come on down and help us tackle cancer. "Down, set, HIT!!" Please contact me with any questions. Have a great weekend!
